⚔️ Frequently Asked ⚔️

General
What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is a non-professional and non-official publication produced by fans in the form of a collection of fan works focused on a specific fandom, character, or ship. Typically, publishers, editors, writers and other contributors of articles or illustrations to fanzines are not paid. The cost of the fanzine for purchase covers production costs and surplus either is donated to charity or split amongst the staff and contributors.
What is the zine’s theme?
This project focuses on the types of relationships that could blossom between fairy & steel-type Pokémon.
How many contributors will you be featuring?
The zine will feature 25-30 artists, 7 writers, and several merch artists.
What is a spot artist?
A spot artist is a contributor who draws small objects, characters, or scenes that do not take up a whole page & usually compliments a fanfiction.
Will there be guest contributors?
Yes! We will be inviting guests if our interest check is successful and we're able to continue forward with the project. Guest contributors will be finalized prior to contributor application results going out.
Will ships be allowed in this zine?
Yes, as we're exploring all relationship types between these two typings, pairing is allowed!
Is NSFW allowed in the zine?
No. This zine is strictly SFW.
Can I participate if I’m under 18?
Yes, of course! We encourage anyone 16 or above to apply if they're interested in participating!
How will contributors be compensated?
Contributors will receive a digital copy of the zine and digital merch regardless of if we break even. If we break even, contributors will receive compensation ranging from the zine-only bundle to the full bundle for free, including any stretch goals. They may also receive monetary compensation depending on the results of the interest check.
Are AU’s allowed?
This detail has yet to be confirmed.
How much will the fanzine cost?
The cost has yet to be determined due to the project being in its early stages, but we aim to keep it as close to the results of our interest check as possible!
Is this fanzine going to be for profit or charity?
This project is for charity. The profits made from this project will be donated to the Colon Cancer Coalition. You can find more information about their cause here!
🌸Applications
Are you only sending responses to contributors who are accepted?
No! Even if you are rejected, you will receive an email.
Can I apply for more than one position?
Of course! You will likely only be accepted for one position, but you can apply for as many as you’d like!
How big of an effect do pitches have on my application?
While it’s not the first thing that moderators look at, pitches will be used as a “tiebreaker” of sorts. Your pitches may be the thing that inclines us to accept you over another contributor.
When will I hear back from you guys?
You’ll hear about the status of your application on Jan 31st. Any delays will be communicated over on our Twitter account!
Are you giving feedback?
This answer is largely dependent on the volume of applications we receive. The larger the number of applications, the less likely we are to be offering feedback.
🌸Creation Process
Can I reuse a piece that I created earlier?
No. All pieces must be original and created exclusively for this zine.
Can I turn my piece into an NFT post-project?
No. Due to the nature of NFTs & our moderators' opinions, we will not be accepting anyone who plans to turn their contribution for our project into an NFT or any previously existing NFTs be used as a contributing piece. No exceptions.
Will pitches be assigned, or will we get to choose?
This will be kind of a mixture of both! Once everyone joins the server, contributors will be allowed to submit their pitches in order of preference. From there, moderators will take care of assigning pitches. We will do our best to give you the pitch you’ve chosen, but we may ask that you do your second or third pitch if the Pokémon you’ve chosen are too common.
How long do we have to create our piece(s)?
You’ll have approximately four months from the time of your acceptance, with check-ins every two to three weeks.
When will I be allowed to post my full piece publicly?
You will be able to show a preview during pre-orders via provided template to help with promotion, and allowed to post your full piece during the Leftover period!
Can I use my piece in portfolios after I finish it?
Yes. Until you are allowed to post it, however, we ask that you only use it in private portfolios that you are sharing with the moderators of that zine only. We also ask that you include a note that the piece is not to be distributed.
Can I sell my finished piece/use it on personal merchandise?
Yes, of course. You may do so after leftover sales have ended, and at no prior point.
